Summary

Phase One 3400mAh or 2900mAh batteries can be purchased from your Phase One Dealer. If you choose to purchase 3rd party batteries we recommend Canon BP 915 (1500 - 2900 mAh). The higher the mAh, the longer they will last.

In-Depth

Digital Backs and Phase One XF bodies
Due to differences in tolerances, some 3rd party batteries may not fit into the digital back's battery compartment. Do not try to force the battery in as this could damage the back. When pressing the release button it should slide without problems.

Note: This does NOT apply to Leaf Aptus generation back which uses a Samsung SB1160, 2350mAh

Phase One 645AF, DF, DF+, Mamiya 645AFDIII, DF DF+ Camera body.
Standard Alkaline AA batteries are recommended and will provide the most reliable operation. NiCd and NiMH rechargeable AA batteries will also work, however they are not as stable as standard Alkaline. This is because they tend to output less than 1.5V. When using NiCd or NiMH batteries, custom function C-07 must be set to rechargeable (1).

Note:
Not all rechargeable battery brands have been tested by Phase One. NiMH in particular can have great variances in production and in some cases may not work with the camera at all. For this reason we recommend Duracell 2650 mAh NimH batteries.

Rechargable insert
Item number 30900091
This litium-Ion insert last for several thousand frames.

Note:
We do NOT recommend the 3rd party version of this battery referred to as EJJI.
This is due to reports of varying quality of battery cells and and poor fitting in camera.
Both which can result in damaging the camera body.

Tip for longer lifetime of batteries:
When not using the camerabody we recommend that the back is removed. When the back is left on the camerabody and turned off - the camerabody will detect this as a "filmcasette" and therefore always be on low consumption and use little but some power from the batteries in the grip. Removing the battery bay from the grip is also recomended - by this the back can be left on the camerabody.
