How do I connect my older LightPhase BB000xxx to a newer Mac or Windows computer?

There are several rules and routines to follow when connecting the older generation of LightPhase's to newer systems like OS X and Windows 2000/XP. Please read this article to discover which FireWire card needs to be used on both platforms

In-Depth

LightPhase on Mac's G3/G4, both stationary and laptops:
A repeater must also be used in combination with the FireWire card . The repeater can be used either with a battery or power supply. Please contact a local Phase One dealer for more info and pricing.

Mac G5 are not supported due to the lack of support for FireWire cards with older technology.

LightPhase on Windows stationary computers:
The back can be connected to the FireWire card directly

LightPhase on Windows laptops:
We recommend to use a Orange Link PCMCIA connector

NOTE: The green LEDs indicate that there is power to the back but Do Not confirm a connection has been made, neither on Mac or Windows.

General: The older generations of the LightPhases may require a little more routine when connecting them to a computer. One rule is to always start the software before you connect the back. You may have to start the application 1-2 times before the back is discovered. A possible restart of the computer before the back is detected by the system may also be needed occasionally on the Mac platform.

NOTE: This connection routine only applies to Lightphase with serial number starting with BB00.
Lightphase starting with serial number BB01 might require power conditioner to regulate power.
All other camera backs: Lightphase BB02, BB03, H5, H10, H101, H20, H25, P20, P21, P25, P30 and P45 all conform to the OHCI standard and can connect to any computer as long as it conforms to OHCI standard.
