Summary

This article explains how to perform a simple Geotag with a Program called Photolinker.

In-Depth

1. With your RAW files loaded onto your Computer, Open the Photolinker Program and 'Drag 'n Drop' them into the screen.
(This program does not support .EIP files)

2. Set the Preferences of Photolinker to ensure your GPS information is saved to a sidecar (XMP) file as appose to embedding to the RAW, this is both for safety and compatability with other software programs.

3. You can then either Load a GPX or other compatable Track File, or locate the place the images were taken manually on the Map to the right.
*If using a GPX file or other separate track file, be sure the camera and GPS device are set to the same time. If they are not you can use Photolinker's 'Date Shift' tool.

4. If you do not have a Track File and have located the place where the image was taken on the map, simply Select the relavent images and drop them on the map. The GPS information will now be displayed below the Thumbnail of the image.

5. Verify the location is correct and then select the option to "Write Changed Tags" in the upper the Left.

6. The GPS information is then written to an XMP file bearing the same name. If the XMP did not exist one will be created at this time.

Once the images have been Geotagged you can see the information in Capture One software. Simply launch Capture One and see the values in the "Exif-GPS" field under the Metadata field.

If you would like to see this information in the Processed File, please choose that option in the Advanced tab of the Process Recipe.

The GPS Coordinates are now included in the Processed file and can be viewed in almost any Image Software.
