Summary

Firewire is no longer supported for tethering starting from Capture One 21 (version 14.2) (with introduction of M1 processor support)

In-Depth

With the release of the latest version of Capture One 21 (version 14.2), changes have had to be made by the Capture One team to accommodate the new M1 processor from Apple.

This means that Firewire is no longer supported for tethering within Capture One. This is due to that it is a new SDK driving the tethering, this also applies to Windows.

NOTE: This does not affect USB tethering which is fully supported.

So, just to make it a bit easier, there is a grid of what does support Firewire and what does not.
